History and Legacy Wall - Rainbow Wing at Rekai Centre
Join me for a glimpse inside the newly opened Rainbow Wing at Wellesley Central Place in Toronto. In this short video by me, and the photo gallery by Wade Muir, explore how over 65 images, posters, and stories were carefully researched, recreated, and displayed to honour 2SLGBTQIA+ history. Walk the vibrant hallways with me—from the inspiring Two-Spirit and Indigenous Experience wall featuring art by Lou Losier, to a moving visual timeline celebrating diversity and inclusion. I worked 18 months on this project, from research, to documenting, photographing and scanning images. Akasha Art projects printed and framed the images. This dedicated space is designed to provide 2SLGBTQIA+ residents with a welcoming, supportive environment. Watch now to experience the heart and history behind the Rainbow Wing, and see why this project means so much to me and our community. A special thanks to Barbara Michalik (Executive Director Community, Academic Partnerchips and Programming, the founder of the Rainbow Wing unit), the entire Rainbow Wing Advisory Committee, and especially staff and residents of 3W.
